こんにちは！私の名前はトレヴィン・マイヤーズです。本日より、ブルドーザーでインターンを始めることになりました。私はアメリカ出身で、日本語はまだ初級レベルです。まだ会話はうまくできませんが、日本を離れる頃にはもっと理解し話せるようになりたいと思っています。
また、国際的なビジネス環境で働けるこの機会に、とてもワクワクしていますし、できるだけ多くのことを学びたいと考えています。
アメリカの実家では、町の外れに住んでおり、空が大地を支配しているような場所です。空は雷の声で呼びかけ、太陽の暖かい光で元気を与え、夜には家に導くために灯された玄関の明かりのように輝いています。星々は何世代にもわたって人間を見守りながら、常に空を自由に移動しています。星座を見上げた目の数だけ、星の並びに対する解釈もさまざまです。
アート思考について考えるとき、私は星を思い浮かべます。既に定められ、よく知られている星座がある一方で、空の光を自由につなげて、新たな物語を描くこともできます。壁を越え、パターンを捉え直し、新しい問いを立てる自由があるのです。たとえば、北斗七星はスプーンではなく、差し伸べられた手だったら？もし子どもに星空に何が見えるかを尋ねたら、一般的に知られている答えを返してくるでしょうか？彼らの心は制限から解放されており、星がその自由さを解き放つのです。
この「意味を描き直す自由」こそが、星とアート思考に私が魅了される理由です。すでにそこにあるものを見つめながらも、常に新しい何かを見出すことができるということ。
今、日本でインターンを始めたばかりの私は、まるで星空を見上げているような気持ちです。まだこの新しい環境の「パターン」や「言葉」、「星座」はわかりません。しかし、知らないことに縛られるのではなく、星をつなぐ線を自分なりに描いて、ここで自分だけの物語を紡いでいきたいと思います。
このオープンな姿勢こそが、アート思考が私たちに立ち戻らせてくれるものです。境界なく想像する力で、空と同じようにブルドーザーでの経験も、自分自身がどう描くかによって決まります。空は無限ですが、私たちの創造力もまた無限です。ビジネス、アート、あるいは日常の会話の中でも、私たちはいつだって、与えられた線の外へと想像する自由を持っています。

Hello! My name is Trevin Myers and today marks my first day interning with Bulldozer. I am from the U.S., and my Japanese is very beginner level. I can’t yet hold a conversation, but I hope that by the time I leave I will be able to understand and speak more. I’m also excited for the opportunity to work in an international business environment, and I hope to learn as much as I can.
Back home in the U.S., I live outside of town where the sky is what governs the land. It calls out with its voice of thunder, rejuvenates you with its warm sunny rays, and, at night, shines like a porch light left on to guide you back home. The stars have seen generations of humans while staying steadfast and free to move across the sky. With the amount of eyes that have seen the constellations, there are many different interpretations as to how they align.
When I think of art thinking, I think of the stars. Although there are set and well-known constellations, you are able to connect any of the lights in the sky to tell a story. You have the freedom to challenge yourself to move past walls, reframe patterns, and ask new questions. What if the big dipper was not a spoon, but a hand reaching out? If you were to ask a child what they saw in the stars, would they tell you what is widely known? Their mind is free from limitation, and the stars simply unlock it. This is what fascinates me about both the stars and art thinking: the freedom to redraw meaning. To look at what is already there and still find something new.
In many ways, I feel like I’m staring at the stars now, beginning my internship and time in Japan. I don’t yet know the patterns, the words, or the “constellations” of this new environment. But instead of being confined by what I don’t know, I want to connect the dots differently, to create my own story here.
This openness is what art thinking calls us back to – the ability to imagine without borders. Just like the sky, my experience here at bulldozer will be what I make of it. The sky is infinite, but so is our capacity to create. Whether in business, art, or simple conversations, we are always free to imagine beyond the lines drawn for us.
